The province is set to make great progress in terms of making affordable housing available to more New Brunswickers.
That from Dan Murphy, Executive Director of New Brunswick Non-Profit Housing.
Murphy attributes a lot of the progress to the alignment from all levels of government.
He says the federal government should be providing funding in the next budget being released next week and the province is working on a provincial housing strategy.
There are roughly 30,000 households that are in inadequate, unaffordable or unsafe housing.
Murphy says one of the main concerns revolves around the expiration of operating agreements from the last big wave of construction between the 80's and 90's.
He says there was a want to do it back then, but now we have to ensure that affordable housing remains a priority.
A lot of those agreements are set to expire and the peak will begin over the next four years.
