Arrests Made After Two Armed Robberies

City Police arrested 2 men in their mid twenties following two armed robberies last night. The first one was in the Valley at Daly's on Hampton Road with a shot being fired but no one was injured. The second holdup occurred at Sam's Variety on Carmarthen Street with the arrests being made shortly thereafter.

There was also a serious assault in the north end. A 38 year old man has suffered what police are describing as substantial injuries after being beaten with a weapon on 5th Street near Cranston Avenue in early this morning.

Fire crews are on the scene of a blaze at a vacant building on Albert Street in the old North end. Traffic is being rerouted around the fire.

Police are also investigating after bear spray was sprayed into an apartment on Queen Street and they also report rescuing a woman who was threatening to jump off the Reversing Falls bridge.
