If you have driven on Grandview Avenue in Saint John this week you likely have noticed a picket line at the NBCC Saint John Campus.
It's members of Local 437 of Sheet Metal Workers and Roofers who are picketing the new facility that is under construction on the campus.
Business Manager for the Local, David Mowbray tells CHSJ News contrary to what people think those attending the college are not being bothered, they are letting students and staff through during the day.
He says it is the non-unioned contract workers on the new metals building that have been crossing the picket lines and they have had a problem with that.
Mowbray says they have a dozen picketers on the line who have been without a collective agreement for two years.
He says wages, a hiring list and recall and not being paid for the new Family Day Holiday are just some of the issues.
